Sermon Text: 2 Samuel 4:1-12
Theme: When false redeemers are judged by the Lord, He reminds His elect that He Himself is their only redeemer who has saved them from their sins and every other adversity they suffer.
Structure/points: The day when David would rule the people of God as king of a united Israel was fast approaching. And as king, David would be used by the Lord to save Israel from the Philistines and their other enemies. But if David were to be rescuer of Israel, what role would Israel play in their own rescue and redemption? Could anyone say, “I contributed to the accomplishment of the Lord’s kingdom and the coming of His king”? This Easter, we will be reminded that the people of the Lord have one Savior and Redeemer, and that is the Lord Himself. God needs no help from man to accomplish our salvation, and man must look to the Lord alone for his salvation.
