Sermon Text: 1 Samuel 26:1-25
Theme: Since the lives of the righteous are precious in the eyes of the Lord, they must commit their situations to the Lord, lest they sin by taking matters into their own hands.
Structure/points: The last time that David and Saul met, David refused to take the king’s life. But what did he do when God handed him the life of his enemy a second time? Rather than take matters into his own hands, David committed his situation to the Lord. Rather than commit a grave sin in order to help himself, he trusted that God would guard his life and do what was right, both to him and to Saul. In two points, we will see how David committed his circumstances to the Lord rather than trust in himself to make things right.
- David committed Saul to the Lord for judgment
- David committed himself to the Lord for protection
