Sermon Text: 1 Samuel 13:1-23

Theme: Saul’s foolish refusal to obey the Lord’s command resulted in the kingdom being given to another man

Structure/points: Up to this point in 1 Samuel, Saul has been portrayed as a complex man, but now, the question had to be asked: would Saul obey the commandment of God, yes or no? 1 Samuel 13 shows us the first major test of Saul’s faith and its results.  And the results were grim. He did not obey but rebelled against God.  Today, we will have four points that will help us understand what Saul did and why the outcome was so stern.  These points are.
