Sermon Text: 2 Samuel 7:18-29
Theme: The promise of God’s covenant of grace inspires His people to offer praise and thankful prayer for the steadfast love He has freely offered them.
Structure/points: the Lord had made a covenant with David to make him into a house and give him an everlasting dynasty. A son of David, chosen by God Himself, would build a house for the Lord and the Lord would be with him always. Upon hearing the prophetic word, David went to the Lord’s presence in the tent, and sat down to pray. Then he expressed his feelings of joy, wonder, humility, praise, and confidence in the Lord. The result is perhaps one of the greatest examples of prayer in the whole Bible, which David offered because he was grateful and thankful to the Lord for His promises.
