Prologue to 1 Samuel

Sermon Text: Judges 2:11-19, 21:25; Ruth 4:13-17

Theme: In the Book of Samuel, the Lord demonstrates His intention to anoint a righteous king to deliver His people

Structure/points: In order to understand 1 Samuel, it is helpful to understand what had happened in the days leading up to it.  Lord willing, we will attempt summarize the days when the judges ruled Israel and say three things about that time of Israel’s history. 

  1. A time of religious chaos
  2. A time of inadequate leadership
  3. A time of continued faithfulness
