I Shall Praise My Deliverer!

Sermon Text: 2 Samuel 22:1-25

Theme: The omnipotent God rescues all those whom He delights in when they call to Him for rescue. They, in turn, praise the Lord for being their glorious salvation from all their enemies.

Structure/points: In 2 Samuel 22, we find David’s reflection upon his long and exciting life.  But this is no political thriller or shallow attempt at self-aggrandizement.   David wrote a song of prayer to the Lord.  It is a song about the Lord, for the glory of the Lord, written in such a way that all the people of the Lord could join with him in singing to the Lord. David reflects on how the Lord has saved him, and we are called to see why we can and should join him in the song of the Lord’s praise.

  1. God’s praiseworthy salvation (1-4)
  2. God’s awesome appearance (5-16)
  3. God’s holy favor (17-25)
