Sermon Text: 1 Samuel 23:15-29
Theme: Despite the hatred that the sinful world has for God’s people, the Lord will vindicate His people’s faith by ensuring that His word shall come to pass.
Structure/points: As we anticipate celebrating Reformation Sunday, we may ask how the Reformation as a movement survived and even thrived. How is that the great rediscovery that the righteous shall live by faith wasn’t buried the first time Luther called attention to it? 1 Samuel 23:15-29 might help us to understand this more clearly. David was in the most danger he’d been in since he’d first begun running from Saul. But the Lord was still God, and He was determined that His word and decree would be accomplished. This is illustrated by how…
- Jonathan encouraged David
- The Ziphites betrayed David
- The Lord preserved David
