Sermon Text: 1 Samuel 30:1-31
Theme: After permitting David to have a period of weak faith, the Lord graciously restored His servant to spiritual strength and provided him a decisive victory over the enemies of God.
Structure/points: 1 Samuel 30 shows an unimaginable crisis that God permitted to befall David. But the point was not to break David, but to remind him of the God he served and how much David needed Him. And David learned the lesson well, because the Lord was determined to show mercy to His wayward servant, not destroy him forever. God’s work here was transformative and renewing for David, and this is seen in David’s actions in the passage.
- David’s renewed strength
- David’s victory over Amalek
- David’s display of grace
