Sermon Text: Galatians 3:19-22
Theme: The law of God accomplishes its purpose not by justifying sinners from its curse, but by showing them their need for Christ to deliver them.
Structure/points: Paul has been arguing that the law of God is incapable of saving sinners; only by faith in Jesus is anyone justified. But why then did God give the law? What is its purpose? Is it actually good, or is it opposed to the gospel promise? Paul shows that the law is indeed good when it is used as God intended it to be used; as a help to see our need for Jesus as the gospel holds Him out to us.
- Why was the law was added?
- Is the law contrary to the gospel?
