Sermon Text: 1 Samuel 15:10-35
Theme: Because Saul, the Lord’s anointed, refused to obey the clear command of the King of Kings, God rejected him from being king over His covenant people.
Structure/points: 1 Samuel 15 is among the most pivotal chapters in the whole book, and not in a positive way. Saul, the first king of Israel, the king whom the people of God asked for, was exposed as a rebel and turncoat. By disobeying the commandment of the Lord and taking forbidden plunder, Saul committed a terrible sin with unavoidable consequences. We see this illustrated by…
- The exposure of Saul’s failure
- The condemnation of Saul’s rebellion
- The finality of Saul’s judgement
