Sermon Text: 2 Samuel 6:1-15

Theme: In order that the Lord’s holy presence may bring life and not death, His people must carefully obey His rules for worship with fear and joy

Structure/points: Throughout Scripture, we are given junctions where different elements, stories, hints, and prophecies come together and show how they connect to one another. 2 Samuel 6-7 serve as such a junction, and 2 Samuel 6 specifically shows us how the ark of the Lord came to Jerusalem. After decades, the worship of God was finally about to be restored to its proper place of prominence among the people of Israel.  But things went seriously wrong and death occurred because the Lord’s commandments weren’t obeyed.
