The Battle is the Lord’s

Sermon Text: 1 Samuel 17:38-54

Theme: The Lord of Hosts gave the worldly champion into the hand of His anointed one, proving that He alone is God and saves His people without the strengths of man.

Structure/points:  As champions of their peoples and representatives of their worldviews, David and Goliath were heading for a collision course that would result in the death of one of them.  Was the Lord God or not?  David said yes, Goliath said no.  The question would have a definite answer before long.  Of course, the one who reads Scripture in faith knows the answer.  The Lord is God alone, the living and true.  He proved it at the valley of Elah for both His people and His enemies to see through this contest of champions.  We see this through…
