Sermon Text: Psalm 3:1-8
Theme: Though the foes of the believer are many, salvation belongs to the Lord, and He will answer all who cry to Him for deliverance with protection and blessing.
Structure/points: If ever there was a time to be thinking about musical composition, running away from Absalom’s rebels seems like it wouldn’t be it. Yet it was in the midst of one of the most bitter periods of David’s life that the Holy Spirit inspired him to write Psalm 3. Despite the darkness of circumstances, Psalm 3 is remarkably confident. David knew exactly who the Lord is and that gave him a solid rock upon which his faith could stand. Because David knew that God would save from him from his wicked son, a theme of salvation permeates Psalm 3.
- The denial of salvation
- The certainty of salvation
- The appeal for salvation
