Sermon Text: Galatians 1:1-5
Theme: Having believed the words of Jesus as He gave them through Paul, the Church places its faith only in Jesus for its deliverance from its sins so that God alone may receive the glory.
Structure/points: Paul was angry when he wrote the letter to the Galatians. But his anger had nothing to do with personal offences. He was angry because people were teaching a version of the gospel as twisted and foul as it was attractive. Men and women whom he had personally led to Christ were teetering on the edge of apostasy and eternal condemnation because they were strongly considering this heresy. Even in the first five verses of the book, Paul’s concern and agitation are evident as he orients us to the main themes of the letter and reminds the Galatians of what they were about to forget.
- The apostle called by the Lord (vv. 1-2a)
- The churches straying from the Lord (v. 2b)
- The deliverance received through the Lord (vv. 3-5)
