Sermon Text: 2 Samuel 15:17-37
Theme: Though David was forced to once again retreat into the wilderness because of his and Absalom’s sins, the Lord provided him with help and encouragement so that the strength of his flagging faith was restored.
Structure/points: For the second time, David found himself hunted by his own people and forced to seek refuge in the wilderness. This time, the man hunting David was his own son, Absalom. But the Lord remained David’s God and helper. Yes, He had permitted Absalom to cause sorrow and grief to David, and yes, He allowed David to become an exile and fugitive once again. Even so, He gave him small comforts that sustained him and prepared him for the black days that lay in the future.
