David’s Fearful Flight

Sermon Text: 1 Samuel 21:1-22:5

Theme: During the early days of his flight from Saul, David acted in fear and sin until he remembered the Lord’s providential salvation.

Structure/points:  David did not spend His early days on the run acting in faith in the Lord’s help.  Fear of death and of Saul dominated his mind, and in his fear, he made a number of sinful decisions he would regret.  But those sins were not the last word for the Lord’s anointed.  In time, God would restore His doubting servant to His side and favor.  Our passage shows us how David ran to three different place to find safety.

  1. The flight to Nob
  2. The flight to Gath
  3. The flight to Adullam
