Sermon Text: 1 Samuel 20:1-17
Sermon Theme: The covenant faithfulness of the Lord encourages His people to turn to Him
for the comfort and protection that He has promised they will receive.
Structure/points: As Jonathan’s father, the king, descended further into sinful madness, David
and Jonathan found that they had to ask very hard things of each other. My hope is that we will
gain an appreciation for the love and sacrifice these men displayed. In doing so, I hope that we
will gain an even greater appreciation for the covenant love that God has shown to His people.
Specifically, we will look at three features of the covenant friendship between David and
Jonathan and see that theirs was…
