The Life of Samson: Relying on God’s Strength

Sermon Text: Judges 13-16

Theme: Relying on God’s strength and guidance through the Holy Spirit

Structure/points:  We can get many lessons from the story of Samson.  Like Samson, we can look at our lives and see peaks and valleys.  Like Samson, we do not always obey God and sometimes we actively do things against God.  Like Samson, God can work in us and use us to serve His purposes.  But unlike Samson, we are still alive and God is not finished with us yet. The story of Samson points to Jesus.  We shouldn’t look to Samson for our morality but if we look at Jesus, we see a life worth emulating, but even more so, we see a man so committed to loving us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  In this story of Samson, we see Jesus, the sacrificial lamb.
