Sermon Text: 2 Samuel 23:8-39

Theme: The grace of the Lord to deliver His people from their enemies empowered the servants of David to accomplish amazing feats for the king whom they loved. 

Structure/points: As 2 Samuel continues to summarize how God worked through David’s reign, Scripture reminds us that David was not an island who stood above all others and needed no help anyone. He was surrounded by servants and soldiers who loved him and loved the people of God.  In this seemingly mundane passage, we find a record of the exploits of David’s servants, men who did things that seemed humanly impossible.  But more than that, we find stories of the power of the Lord Almighty to do great things through and for His people.
