Confessing Historic Reformation Christianity: Salvation by Grace Alone, Through Faith Alone, in Christ Alone, Founded on Scripture Alone, for the Glory of God Alone.

The Certificate of the Gospel Call

Sermon Text: Acts 17:16-34

Theme: The resurrection of Jesus from the dead certifies the responsibility of all mankind to reject their idolatry and offer correct worship to the one true God who made them.

Structure/points: Among the many doctrinal functions which the resurrection provides for our faith, it also has a certifying function.  What does the resurrection of Jesus certify for us?  According to the apostle Paul, it certifies everything we do as Christians.  The resurrection gives veracity and legitimacy to everything the Bible calls the church to believe and know and do as the people of God.  Because Jesus did not remain dead but arose from the grave three days later, the gospel call is to be received and accepted by all people.  Because He is not dead but alive now at this moment, all people must worship the God of the Bible.
