Confessing Historic Reformation Christianity: Salvation by Grace Alone, Through Faith Alone, in Christ Alone, Founded on Scripture Alone, for the Glory of God Alone.

A Curse Pronounced; A Curse Removed

Sermon Text: Galatians 3:10-14

Theme:  The law’s curse rests upon all who have failed to keep it perfectly, but Christ became a curse to redeem all whose faith rests upon Him so that they could receive the blessing of Abraham.

Structure/points: Why is Paul still hammering home that we are only justified by faith and not works of the law?  And why does he pack Gal. 3:10-14 so full of OT quotations?  Because Paul knew that if there anything that the Christian religion needs to be clear and consistent on, it is answering this question: how can a person be brought into a right relationship with God?  And though the Old Testament contains the law of God, it never encouraged men to work for their salvation.  It always looked forward to the grace of God to save His people through the Messiah.

  1. The curse of the law
  2. Redemption from the law
